Man’s Spiritual Body

‘Successful astral projection is based upon this fundamental conception: that the ‘double’ - the etheric counterpart of man - is capable at times of being detached from the physical body, carrying with it the consciousness of the subject, so that he now lives in that body, asleep upon the bed, and observe it as an ‘outsider’. Connecting these two bodies - the astral and the physical - is an ethereal cord, usually emerging from the forehead of the physical and entering the astral at the back of the neck. So long as this cord is intact, life is present, and the astral body eventually returns to reanimate the physical organism. When, however, this cord is severed ( as it is at death) then the astral body can no longer return to reanimate the body, which then disintegrates.’
